Mantis

A class of facade cleaning robot, Mantis is made of three identical modules and a caterpillar-inspired linear actuator bar system. With the linear actuators, each of the impeller modules can be lifted off the facade, allowing Mantis to cross over obstacles on vertical facades with ease. Each module is also equipped with a passive rotary system which allows it to rotate independently from others, enabling Mantis to traverse the facade. Mantis is also equipped with onboard sensors enabling the creation of real-time maps of the operating environment, health monitoring, and optimal cleaning paths.

i.Dummy

The i.Dummy project was conceived 5 years ago by Dr. Allan C.K.Chan of the Institute of Textiles & Clothing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This was done as dummies are vitally used in the fashion industry for design and fitting and they are often available in single size and shape. Even when they are billed as a certain size, their shape and physical profiles can be variedly different. Coupled with various differences of many ethnicities, the finding of a dummy that can adequately represent the “person” has remains difficult.

charity

The Charity Water remote well sensor measures the flow of clean water, and records and reports how efficiently wells are working at any given time. Wells containing this sensor are being installed all over the world, bringing clean water to communities who otherwise would not have clean water to use or drink. This remote well sensor keeps donors and water committees informed in real time about well function, ensuring the delivery of clean water to their communities.

The Vinci

THE VINCI is a protocol analyzer and converter for applications requiring the highest versatility of physical serial communication interfaces. Industrial design of the device is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's illustration “Vitruvian Man”, which represents the golden ratio of the human body. The elements are positioned so that they would prolong the lines of the drawn figure and create a perfectly ergonomic shape of the device, convenient to handle every day.

Subsea BPR

By protecting lines 2,000 to 10,000 feet below sea level, the Subsea Back Pressure Regulator (BPR) helps make oil and gas extraction more environmentally safe and productive. It counters chemical injection fluid siphoning in wells with low pressure. The novelty of this device is that the Subsea BPR throttles to create back pressure only when the pressure falls below a factory set pressure level. A hermetically sealed gas charge activates this first stage without power. More pressure causes a second stage to enact; allowing the product to handle additional pressure and debris.
